The heartbeat quickens!

Tony Leung Chiu Wai (all together now: *SIGH*) is to reunite with director John Woo on the $70m production The Battle of the Red Cliff. It’s John Woo’s first Chinese language film since action cracker Hard Boiled (1996), which starred Tony (still lovely despite a flat top) and Chow Yun Fatt.

Earlier kefuffles saw Tony and Chow Yun Fatt leave the Red Cliff shoot on shaky pretexts but at least, in Tony’s case, it’s all back on track. Phew. Takeshi Kaneshiro (once again all together now: *hnnngh!*) who stepped into the breach after Tony’s departure, remains in the cast although, as he was to replace Tony, it is uncertain who will play which part. The pair initially worked together in Wong Kar Wai’s whimsical Chungking Express (1994) and last year in Confessions of Pain, apparently a wannabe Infernal Affairs.

Anyway, it makes for a very handsome movie poster.
